Here is Vibhuti Joshi in a conversation with GOGO Magazine.
1) When did your journey as a musician begin?
As a child, I used to spend hours watching and imitating my favorite artists performing on Television. From there my interest in music began to grow and I started my musical journey by taking guitar lessons at the age of 14 and then getting Indian classical vocal training later on.

2) Tell us more about you being the North India winner of Mtv Colors of Youth, season 4.
I was a part of an all-girls collective called ‘Nyasa’ and we had auditioned for MTV Colors of Youth Season 4 in our college itself. From there we got selected for the North India Zonal which was held in Delhi and stood winners in the same.

3) Which has been your first track?
My first track is still unreleased. It is called Dil. I don’t plan on releasing it now since it is an old song that was written in a different phase of life. I don’t relate to that song now, hence I won’t be able to do any justice to it. However, my first released song is ‘Hale V which is a part of an EP titled ‘Origins’. It is done in collaboration with two other artists ‘Roop Ghuman’ and ‘Arjit Singh’. I recently released its music video as well.
4) Who has been your inspiration?
My inspiration in music has been artists like Adele, Beyonce, Lana del Rey, Ariana Grande, John Mayer, Ed Sheeran, Charlie Puth, and Jacob Collier.

5) Where do you see yourself in next 5 years?
I see myself as a very skilled and successful Music Producer, Singer, Performer, and Entrepreneur. I hope to be able to create more art for the sake of it.

6) Which has been your most memorable project or song?
The most memorable or favorite song that I have worked on has to be ‘Saare Chann te Taare’. It is so beautifully written by a fellow artist, Roop Ghuman, that I instantly fell in love with it since the first day of its making. The lyrics made me connect to the song on a very emotional level.

7) Tell us about your experience with Byjus.
I worked at Byjus from 2016-2017 as a Sound Engineer. I met various talented musicians in the company from whom I got to learn the basics of Music Production and got the inspiration to work on my original music.

8) Share some of your achievements with the magazine.
I have released a track called City Lights which introduces a new genre to Punjabi music i.e; Punjabi Lofi.
Worked on an EP Titled Origins, with the aim of introducing new sounds and genres in Punjabi music. It was done in collaboration with two other Artists ‘Roop Ghuman’ and ‘ Arjit Singh’. Our Experiment with Punjabi music was very well received and we were able to create a niche genre with a very loyal audience.
Worked with EYP Creations, one of the biggest Event Management Companies in North India.

9) How was life in quarantine?
Life in quarantine has not been easy for anyone. From being covid positive myself to seeing and hearing terrifying news all around, along with all industries and means of livelihood coming to a standstill, this period has been rough both physically and mentally. However, looking on the brighter side I got a lot of time to reflect, reconnect with my family, and work on new music. My song City Lights was created in lockdown itself and I have a lot more music coming out soon, all of which is created at home in quarantine.
