Salman Elahi is a Mumbai based singer-songwriter who primarily sings and writes in Urdu/Hindi language. Recently he has released his first EP called ‘Shaan’ which has 3 songs, Currently available on major streaming platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, Saavn and YouTube! He majorly believes in expressing his thoughts about life, self-realisation and self-discovery via his music!
Here is Salman Elahi in a conversation with GOGO Magazine.
1) When did your journey as a musician begin?
I had a true love for music since childhood but I sincerely started pursuing music during my graduation. I moved to Delhi in 2014 and started learning and doing gigs simultaneously.
2) Which was your first song?
Song talks about how one can lose himself in cities and miss serenity of mountains. The first song was “Pahadon Mein”.
3) Which has been your most memorable live performance?
If I talk about in general every show is unique and a memorable one, but if I have to name one, it will be of NID Ahmedabad, as I performed my original song for the first time in front of a live audience.
4) Who has been your inspiration?
I was inclined towards music from my childhood days with my father listening music over the radio, to name few of them were Mohd Rafi, Mukesh, Hemant Kumar, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Jagjit Singh and many others.
5) Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I just want to do music honestly and go with the flow. I haven’t planned anything as such but I want to create a lot of honest and true songs.
6) Tell us about your latest track.
My latest track is “Kabira”. Which is adaptation of Some Dohe By Kabir Das Ji.
7) How was life in quarantine?
Well, to be honest, life was tough in lockdown as we couldn’t do gigs/shows but with the support of friends and family, I feel this shall too pass.
