Here is Deane Sequeira in a conversation with GOGO Magazine.
1) When did your journey as a musician begin?
I began my musical journey in my early teens when I was 15yrs. I had two song releases then (Original & Bollywood) and one big live concert with 50 renowned artists during my 10th board exams. It was extremely pressurizing but I had the confidence of nailing all of them. There was No looking behind from then. Music Work kept flowing from all quarters, be it Bollywood Music, live shows, TVC Jingles and collaborations.

2) Which was your first song?
“RANDOM” was my first independent Original Song released in my early teens, when I was in School by Music label Hungama-Artist Aloud. I penned the lyrics, composed, sung & Rap’d it too. The Music was Produced, Mixed Mastered by Arya Acharya.
In Bollywood, the Song “Bezubaan” from Remo D’souza’s Film ABCD (AnyBody Can Dance) was my debut in Bollywood. This happened too in my early teens when I was in School. I penned the Rap lyrics and added a dose of Rap in Bezubaan blended with some beautiful mesmerizing vocals of Priyal Panchal & Mohit Chauhan, which sounds fresh even today. This song Produced by Music director duo Sachin-Jigar came as a blessing in disguise which has opened Bollywood doors for me.
3) Which has been your most memorable live performance?
Performing live with Ram Sampat (The RS Experience Band) at The Bacardi NH7 Weekender Pune, Asia’s biggest Multi-Genre Music Festival in front of 40-50 thousand audience cheering for more was a breathless moment for me to witness. It was & will be my best live gig to remember.

4) How has been your experience in Bollywood?
My experience in the Indian Music Industry has been extremely good & welcoming. Every Music Producer or Director, I’ve worked with till date has been extremely warm and gracious and have treated me with great respect & support.

5) Who has been your inspiration?
My biggest inspiration is my Dad who always inspired me. He is a passionate musician & hotelier and often played the guitar. Music was 24/7 played at home. So at a very early age music seeped in & was flowing in my veins. My parents & friends had the belief in me and motivated me to move ahead. I was also very impressed and inspired by Eminem, Nicki Minaj, B.O.B, Busta Rhymes and many other Hip Hop artists and would keep their songs on repeat mode.

6) How was life in quarantine?
The World is on a Pause and everyone’s impatiently waiting to get a hold of the play button. The Lockdown has doubtlessly altered most of our lives. On the positive side, it has been an opportunity in adversity. Apart from my professional work, I have been able to invest and make quality time for myself be it… reading, exercising, family time, music, movies, writing and sleeping like there’s no tomorrow tops the list.

7) Tell us about your latest track. What was the inspiration behind it?
I have been writing and composing a few songs and hoping to release them next year only. Once they release you’ll surely hear everything about it. However, until then, I will continue to inspire and work towards creating and producing good music for the audience for the rest of my life.
8) Which is your most preferred genre?
Hip-Hop is my preferred genre. Hip-Hop is the cutting-edge genre in India today. Rapping has gained a lot of grip and it’s beautiful to watch it snowballing bigtime in India. Be it Hip-Hop festivals, underground rappers, Independent artists or a Bollywood Song. A Dose of rap adds zing and flavour to the song. The demand for more Raps in Bollywood songs is accelerating and so is the demand for independent releases in the hip-hop genre. The Hip-Hop genre is here to stay and is only getting louder. It might not be as roaring as it is internationally but I believe with time, it will.

9) Moving ahead, what can we expect from Deane Sequeira?
I would say that my style is unconventional and I see myself working with super talented musicians and artists, collaborating with offbeat genres by adding more diversity and colour in my upcoming music. I’m still on the route to achieving my dreams and goals by embracing every challenge that comes my way.
