Here is Kabeer Ali in a conversation with GOGO Magazine.

1) When did your journey as a musician begin?

I think I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember now. It probably started off around the time when I was in pre-school. I loved singing in choirs and for talent shows. That’s basically how it started off for me. My school gave me the confidence to go up on stage and express myself and that has helped me to date with all my musical endeavors.

2) Tell us more about your experience in the western music society of Sri Venkateswara College “Crescendo.”

The best thing for me in my college life was definitely my music society ‘Crescendo’. It gave me a lot of exposure and improved me as a musician vastly. I met a lot of talented people and learned a lot from them and more importantly, I made lifelong friends who inspire me every day.

3) Which has been your first track?

I wrote my first song in 2020 during the lockdown. It’s called ‘Aa Bhi Jao’ and I released it in October of last year on all music streaming platforms. It’s a very personal song for me as I wrote down something very close to my heart with all honesty, probably a way of closure for myself. That’s why I feel people connect easily as it’s very relatable.

4) Who has been your inspiration?

I draw my inspiration from a lot of people in my life. My mom to start it off is the biggest inspiration for me as I started singing because of her as she loves to sing as well. I always used to copy her when I was young, so the musical credit definitely goes to her. Then my friends for sure as they inspire and support me every day in all my musical endeavors. I’m a big Shahrukh khan fan so he’s also a big inspiration for me to work hard every day to achieve my musical dreams. I love Atif Aslam, Mustafa Zahid, and Asfar Hussain to name a few of my musical inspirations as well who are brilliant vocalists.

5) Where do you see yourself in next 5 years?

I see myself on a big stage performing my heart out for a massive crowd singing my songs back to me . That is my dream and I’m working hard to achieve that one day.

6) Which has been your most memorable project or song?

I have to say my first single ‘Aa Bhi Jao’ is always going to be the most special song for me as everything was new when I was recording it and the feeling is something I cannot express. The whole process and journey of the song were magical which I shared with my friend who’s also the music producer of all my songs Anubhav Silas who’s a phenomenal Guitarist.

7) Tell us about your latest track.

Coming to my latest track which I released last month, It’s called ‘Tere Liye’ and it’s out on all music platforms available online. I wrote the song during a chilly night and it replicates that cold feeling of love and heartbreak. Again a very relatable number, so people should definitely give it a listen.

8) Share some of your achievements with the magazine.

I’ve performed and won a lot of competitions with my choir and band over a span of three years, the prominent one being in Mood Indigo IIT Bombay where my band was placed third.

9) How was life in quarantine?

I think life in quarantine had both pros and cons for me. Obviously, it was very difficult to isolate and stay alone but it gave me a lot of time to work on myself and write a lot of music, so I’ll always be thankful for that. I started off last year during the lockdown and I have no plans of stopping now. I want to work hard and share my music with people as it allows me to express myself in the best way I know. Looking forward to what’s next to come. Excited yet nervous at the same time. It’s very difficult to make it as an independent artist in a country like India but I believe I’ll make it happen with dedication and focus.
