With the approaching Presidential elections of the United States on 3rd November this year, Team Trump has released the first commercial for Indian-Americans featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The commercial shows PM Narendra Modi with President Donald Trump at Sardar Patel Motera cricket stadium in Ahemdabad in February, during the event Namastey Trump.
Tweeting out the ad , Kimberly Guilfoyle , who heads a fundraising unit for the Trump campaign wrote “America enjoys a great relationship with India and our campaign enjoys great support from Indian Americans!” This is the first Trump campaign ad is specifically for an Indian American audience.
The share of Indian-origin voters in the United States has been steadily increasing over the years. A majority of them have always supported the Democratic Party in U.S. presidential elections. PM Narendra Modi appealed to 50,000 Indian-Americans who attended the ‘Howdy, Modi’ event to vote for Trump in 2020. If Modi’s appeal is successful, Trump’s fortunes could change in some counties.
Also, The rise of Kamala Harris, daughter of an Indian mother, as the Democratic Party’s candidate for Vice President represents a coming-of-age of the Indian American community in the United States. A women of Indian origin becoming the Vice President of the country will be a great achievement for the community.
Joe Biden was also heard saying that if elected he will stand with India in confronting the threats that the nation faces. He also tweeted and wished the people on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
The number of registered voters of Indian origin are estimated around 1.3 million, and this number could add fortune to any party.
With elections approaching close both the leaders are in a competition to woo the voters and get ahead of their competitor to become the President of the United States of America.
