Here is Robert Ball in a conversation with GOGO Magazine.

1) When did your journey as a musician begin?

Well, I’ve been singing my whole life but I got my first paid gig at 18.

2) Tell us more about the feeling of traveling to over 60 different countries as an artist.

I feel very fortunate and privileged to have been able to see so many places and that my career has taken me there. I feel like travel is the best education one can get. Learning and understanding the world around us. Also seeing how each culture responds to performances and their appreciation of the shows, I love it!

3) Which has been your first track?

A song called “Funny” that I wrote with a producer named Robbie Patterson – also got placed in the tv show Degrassi.

4) Who has been your inspiration?

Oh, many people. A couple of the big influences are; Luther Vandross, Rachelle Ferrell, Jill Scott, Donnie Hathaway among others!

5) Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

It’s hard to say where I see my self but I hope to have released more music, be touring, doing more tv and movies (acting), and more musical theatre. I’d also like to be producing more shows.

6)How would you describe your music?

Soul … jazz-influenced, soul music!

7) Which has been your most memorable song or project?

River (Into You) really resonates with me, it came to me in a dream so to have it materialize, and that I am so happy with it! I love that song!

8)What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?

Diversity – be as well-rounded as you can be, knowledge is power and it all feeds in to make you better.

Also and importantly be entrepreneurial!!

9)Share some of your achievements with the magazine.

I’ve worked with many great people in the industry in various capacities; Ray Angry (producer, member of The Roots band), Lillias White (Tony Award Winner), Donald Lawrence (Stellar Award Winner)…

I have 7 independent music releases and I am featured on various tracks by; GFuzion, Terry Jazz Lewis & Elric Virtuoso…

I will be appearing as a principal character in “Christmas On 5th” winters 2021/22

I am making my official Stratford Festival Debut this summer in a Cabaret called “Freedom”.

You can also see me in various commercials.

10)How was life in quarantine?

Most of it was horrible, very sad, and lonely… but I was fortunate for the opportunities that came up amidst the pandemic and the advocacy work that I do that kept me busy and engaged.
