Having found his weapon and genre of choice in his 6 string and the blues, Shubham Ray, decided from the age of 15 that music was the road he wanted to walk on. Having performed live for 11 years in numerous bands, Shubham Ray, finally decided to go solo as RAY. and sit in the studio to put out compositions he made throughout those years of experimenting with himself as an artist, for now, the world to hear. Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix being the guitar gods he prays to, Post Malone & GASHI being his vocal melody inspiration and Hip-Hop being his most listened to genre, Ray blends Hip-Hop beats and melodies along with his blues and jazz guitar licks and riffs to pander to crowds ranging from the age group of 15-year-olds drinking tequila all the way up to 65 olds drinking whiskey. You’ll hear sounds from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s & 10s in his compositions. As a result, he’s not genre-specific cause he loves to believe that music can be heard by everyone. I asked what genre he’d classify his music in, he would gladly tell you “VIBE” music.
Here is Shubham Ray in a conversation with GOGO Magazine.
1) When did your journey as a musician begin?
My journey as a musician began in 2011 when my friend introduced me to his guitar and I immediately fell in love with it!

2)Tell us more about the experience of performing in numerous bands for over a decade.
Over the last 10 years, I’ve played in 3 bands!
Woodstrings, Focus, and Wildfire. One of the main things I’ve learned from being in a band is that you develop a unique sound for yourself and what you think is your genre of choice. However, the memories and the time you spend with your bandmates is something you’ll never experience again!
3) Which has been your first track?
My first release goes by the name of Devil Woman! However, you find views on my video, since I just recently uploaded the song on YouTube! I had originally released it on Spotify and Apple Music.
4) Who has been your inspiration?
Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix are my guitar gods Post Malone & GASHI are my vocal melody inspirations and Hip-Hop is my most listened to the genre I blend Hip-Hop beats and melodies along with blues and jazz guitar licks and riffs.
5) Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I see myself continuing to make music that I love and touring the world to see people loving the music that I create just as much as I do! I see myself having a single on the billboard 40 and having a concert at Wembley!

6)How would you describe your music?
Since I blend rock along with hip hop I see my music and something that can be enjoyed by 60-year-olds sipping whiskey as well as by 20-year-olds taking tequila shots!

7) Which has been your most memorable song or project?
My favorite song is always my best song, but from all the songs I’ve made so far my favorite song and the one close to my heart will always be first my single ever, Devil Woman.
8)What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Keep believing in the music you make! Trust me, the world is huge! There is always a crowd out there looking for what you make cause everyone’s ear likes a different kind of sound if not similar and familiar!
9)Share some of your achievements with the magazine.
I don’t have any achievements as such so far!
I’ve done numerous shows at venues, opened for theatre plays, etc! But my biggest achievement so far is that I believed in myself and went ahead with my decision of pursuing music!

10)How was life in quarantine?
Life in quarantine was fun since it gave me time and space with no one but myself to write and compose new songs. Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of life, we don’t get the peace required to make art! As bad as it sounds, I found some peace for myself to reconnect with my art!
