Life is like a “Box of Chocolates – Full of Surprises”

And it is both – A treat and a trial to retort to the events and find the right answers to those concealed questions. We all want things to be foreseeable, don’t we? We expect things to keep on happening just the way they always have, the way the sun rises every morning, the way we get up and survive the day and hop back in bed at the end of the day and the same pattern all over again the next day.

But maybe that’s just a trick we play on ourselves making life seem ordinary, but the truth is that – “Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans”. life is so extraordinary that most of the time we can’t bring ourselves to look at it coz it’s too bright and it hurts our eyes. The fact of the matter is that nothing is ever certain and most of us never find that out until the ground suddenly disappears from beneath their feet and – “The surprise is that you will continue to be surprised.”

Of course, you’ll agree, come to think of it – Everyone gets a box of chocolates, some boxes are bigger, some are smaller, some chocolate boxes probably only have one piece of chocolate in it (only if you are lucky) and the others would turn out to be Fruit N Nut.

Life is like a box of chocolates – with people being the chocolates. Everyone in life that we cross paths with is assorted, some pretty much being all chocolatey from outside hiding their mysterious insides, some nuts coated with a little extra nuts but all caramel inside 😉 making it impossible to see the flavor until you take a bite. The peripheral shielding the soft insides, whether it be caramel, mousse, or nutty fudge we all are arranged impeccably in the box that I call life and all we need to do is, wait to see if we are chosen for one’s greatness or be tossed aside. Most of the time we are cuckolded by the delicious looking outside that most chocolates have. Life cradles us until it is time to nibble and discover whether the inside is something to relish or squint your eyes for having bitten on a couple of nuts 😉.

The moment we hear “Chocolate” the first thing that pops in our head is that nice and smooth or incredibly sweet, just the way we like it. We savor the taste in our mouth, hoping it will be deliciously milky and creamy and other times we get a little apprehensive to nibble on few of them for different reasons – those nutty ones or a particular flavor that repulse our taste buds as the texture isn’t right or the taste isn’t quite what you expected it to be in the first place and the instantaneous reaction would be –  You’d spit it outright? Those unpleasant chocolates that do not meet our specific tastes are the people we do not get along with in life. Those sweet, sensual chocolates that take us to heaven in every bite we take, are those few enjoyable people with whom we’d share happy times with.

“We don’t meet people by accident, they are meant to cross our paths for a reason – Either they change our life, or we change theirs”.

I believe, everything and everybody that we come across in our lives simply enhance our evolution process, thus gratifying its purpose to be there and as I say this not every person is the same to fit in our box of criteria, just like different flavors of chocolates in the box. We can’t always control what’s inside the box nor can we see the hidden flavors of the chocolates, right …??? But we still take our chances and dive in for a big bite, and the same goes when we meet people, we do take chances. Some were the chocolates that melted in their mouth, others were the ones that would probably make you want to get rid of the taste instantly.

Most of the time we don’t comprehend the purpose for their manifestation coz what sometimes appears to be appalling may be a celestial course leading to something meaningful. It’s only when we start trusting the timing and the occurrence of proceedings, presence, existence of people, circumstances, and not just that, the people making us feel good or worse, the suffering too naturally eludes and some of it makes sense and sometimes not.

But what we end up doing is “Just like the chess players who are trying to envisage the opponent’s imminent moves, but when it comes to life it’s a comprehensive story as we don’t get to play the game on a single chessboard, but on multiple chessboards at the same time. And just like a box of chocolate, it’s filled with surprises as the moves just cannot be prophesied and it plays a contemporaneous game with billions of people at the same time by taking each one of us by surprise and we meander around looking for the actual meaning behind the chocolate. What if the chocolate is bitter? I don’t like caramel Ummm but oh, that dark chocolate, or white, or with strawberries, or teeth – shattering nuts 😉.

That’s life, taking a bite of that mysterious portion of chocolate but more than simply savoring that taste and not adjudicating it for not being the taste you expected, or saddened that it wasn’t as tasty as it looked. Nor, should it be the case being sad it only has 10 chocolates instead of 20, or the box wasn’t as big as we hoped it would.

Hence enjoy and savor every bite, every piece, the milky ones or the teeth – shattering nuts because– Life is Full of Surprises “No If’s and No But’s” !!!
