Suhaas has been always inclined towards different genres, his dad being a connoisseur of music introduced Suhaas to everything ranging from Zeppelin to N.W.A to Zac Brown. It was when he saw All is By My Side (the Hendrix movie) that inspired him to pick up the Guitar, and it all started. Suhaas started freelancing with different local bands, studio sessions, corporate gigs, getting acquainted in/to the industry.
Suhaas likes to write music. He goes by an approach that doesn’t have any boundaries or rules restricting my creativity. Using his palette of different genres, Suhaaas likes to create multicolored and unique music. You could call it a chemical reaction where your aesthetic sense is the catalyst.
Here is Suhaas Kumar in a conversation with GOGO Magazine.
1) When did your journey as a musician begin?
My journey as a musician started 6 years back, right after watching all is by my side.
2) Tell us more about the experience of being introduced to almost every genre of music.
I was exposed to a lot of the good stuff as a kid, my dad being a connoisseur of music, I grew up in a house where every genre ranging from Jazz, Blues, Rock, Pop, Metal, Rap was played out loud. However, once I started playing I was particularly into a lot of texas blues and SRV, however, that phase passed and since then I’ve been playing everything. Mainly due to my approach like when I play, I only use limited notes and scales but I can decipher the chemistry of the genre very well, and even though the ideas are limited they fit right in.
3) Which has been your first track?
It was called CONCOCTION, a 7-minute instrumental showcasing my 6 years of guitar.
4) Who has been your inspiration?
There are a ton of artists that I like but Jimi Hendrix, in particular, has inspired me the most, even though our songs and playing are completely different I admire him the most.
5) Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Next five years, going to enroll in an undergrad for music in either Europe or Australia and continue making while freelancing and performing.
6) How would you describe your music?
My music describes me, haha, but if I had to put it in words I’d say I try to make a story with the music I write. Sometimes it sounds like a movie and sometimes it’s just a Lil too abstract for even me to comprehend.

7) Which has been your most memorable project or song?
Definitely my first song CONCOCTION, it was really chaotic session haha, now that I think I believe it had huge potential but a low budget.
8) What advice would you give to the aspiring musicians?
Man just keep going after what you want, sure you like music but what do you want it to do for you. If you answer that you’d know what to do.
9) Share some of your achievements with the magazine.

10) How was life in quarantine?
Life in quarantine umm really productive, wrote a lot of music and freelanced quite a bit, learned new instruments. Honestly, I don’t want it to end lol.
