Mercedes-Benz GLA was premiered at the 2020 auto expo in February. It will have a huge number of amendments both inside and out. The car was expected to launch much earlier but due to several issues like pandemic and lockdown the launch was postponed and all productions were halted. The German automaker is expected to launch GLA 2020 in India sometime around the festive season in October. Currently, the GLA is priced between Rs. 32.33 lakhs and 41.51 lakh (ex-showroom). The bookings for the 2020 Mercedes-Benz are already underway for an initial token of Rupees 1 lakh
The second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA is expected to be introduced in two variants. The 200 variant powered by a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol motor producing 162 bhp and 220d powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 189 bhp.
The new GLA is more of a proper SUV than a bloated hatchback. It retains the old GLA architectural design (has 1.5 cm less length) but is wider and taller (10cm) than the old. It has multi-beam LED headlights on both the ends with a massive ping grille followed by an aggressive bumper. It features 18-inch alloy wheels, a back spoiler, roof rail which serves as a base for roof racks, new LED tail lamps and dual-exhaust chrome tips (non-functional).
As the dimensions are reworked, GLA now offers much better space inside. Legroom is quite enough for an average human and headroom is sufficient but some people can find it a little disturbing. Apart from that, the GLA interior is full of surprises. It offers a panoramic sunroof, redesigned dashboard, a massively wide single touchscreen system separated for infotainment and instrument cluster. It also offers Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) connected technology, wireless charging, a multifunctional steering wheel, multi-colour ambient lighting, turbine-style AC vent, driver-assistive technology, automatic climate control among a host of other features. The Mercedes GLA offers 435 litres of capacity with electric tailgate.
