Kunal Walia is an independent songwriter and filmmaker based in Chandigarh. He is about to release his debut EP ‘ Shor ‘ and already has uploaded his demos on SoundCloud.

Here is Kunal Walia in a conversation with GOGO Magazine.
1) When did your journey as a musician begin?
It began in 2013, when I accidentally went to a Parikrama concert. It was something I had never seen before. Also, got my first guitar gifted from my father few months after that. So yeah, all of that together pushed me.
2) Which was your first song?
First songs are always special and bad sounding. I did not put that up, for people to hear it. But once, I recorded a song in like 1 hour, found a video for it after some months, and uploaded its demo on Instagram. So, technically that’s my first song. It is called ‘ Aasman’.
3) Which has been your most memorable live performance?
It was with my band back in 2017, at PEC, Chandigarh. Shantanu Chand on lead guitar, Gurudeep Sapra on Bass, and Sanmeet Singh on Drums. Some good old rock n roll days.
4) How do you manage investment for your music productions?
It is mostly DIY, so I try to cut off costs with that. I do some freelance work too, to buy all that gear and stuff.

5) Who has been your inspiration?
Parikrama taught me, what actually performing live is, after it, I came across Queen, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Agnee, Lucky Ali and John Mayer.
Learned bits of everything from them. And still learning.
6) Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?
Sipping on some good coffee, and making music in my room or watching a cinema classic.
7) Tell us about your latest track.
It is called ‘ Kahan hun Main ‘. I don’t wanna translate it for the people. Let them listen to it, and find their own meaning is what I believe in.
8) Which is your most preferred genre?
Genre which is helping me to say what I want to say and how I want to say.
9) How was life in quarantine?
Life in quarantine was pretty good actually. Completed some pending projects and made new music.
