France launches its first military excercise in space: AsterX

We have heard about military drills on land and high seas and in the air, but this one about military drills in space. Recently France launches its first military exercise in space, code name ‘Asterx’. Exercise-based on 18 simulated events. France says space is being militarized and they need to prepare.

The activity drills are codenamed “AsterX” to honor the primary French satellite Asterix from 1965. The activities are essential for France’s procedure to turn into the world’s third-biggest space power, after the USA and China.

These space military activities are the first historically speaking endeavor for the French armed force as well as for Europe. Besides, France has intended to create against satellite laser weapons and to reinforce observation capacities to close the hole with rivals; China and Russia.

The aim of the exercise is to monitor a potentially dangerous space object as well as threats to its own satellite from another foreign power possessing a considerable space force. Along with France, the new US Space Force and German space agencies are taking part in the exercises.
