India’s senior speedster Mohammed Shami has resumed “low-intensity” bowling at the National Cricket Academy as his fractured wrist has healed significantly, raising hopes that he could be available for selection for the final two Test matches of the series against England.

England skipper Joe Root became the first cricketer to notch up a double century in his 100th Test, touching the milestone on the second day of the first Test against India in Chennai on Saturday.The 30-year-old reached his double hundred when he lofted India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for a six over long-on in the second session on Day 2 of the series-opener.

The lower order increased Pakistan’s lead to 200 runs against South Africa on the third day of the second and final Test on Saturday.All-rounder Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Rizwan were dropped off successive deliveries before featuring in a 52-run sixth-wicket stand which guided the home team to 129-6 in the second innings at stumps.

Kyle Mayers became the first batsman to score a fourth-innings double century on debut as West Indies chased down 395 runs for a stunning three-wicket win against Bangladesh in the first Test on Sunday.

The BCCI will be organising the Vijay Hazare Trophy from 20 February to 14 March across six cities, with the teams entering the bio-secure bubble from 13 February in order to undergo three COVID tests.
