The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday declared the appointment of Rohit Sharma as India’s ODI captain, with the opener relieving Virat Kohli from the job in front of the upcoming visit to South Africa.
The choice to eliminate Virat Kohli as skipper of India’s ODI group was taken by the national selectors and the BCCI leadership had no earlier communication with him. The 33-year-old Kohli wasn’t approached to quit ODI captaincy ahead of Wednesday’s declaration.
