Q. What does your artwork represent?
The paintings are a response to the sudden shock of this new existence; the emotions of isolation, the uncertainty, and loneliness that we share with our loved ones and strangers alike. For me, it is only the qualities of watercolor that provide the right level of luminosity and serenity, offering myself and, I hope, the viewer, a personal refuge when the world is a frightening and unpredictable place.
Q. What inspires you?
The inspiration for these paintings comes from the changes that we see around us as a result of our isolation. The world is a different place and we have been forced to stop and think. I am inspired by a need to record these changes so that we can be reminded of them before we move on.
Q. What does your art mean to you?
These paintings are an emotive response to a harsh reality and they have offered me both reassurance and comfort during the creation of these calm and peaceful paintings. They provide me with a means of expressing my feelings and enable me to reflect the beauty of our surroundings.
