Kavya Talreja is a national level taekwondo player. He hails from Ranikhet Uttrakhand. He has competed in several national and international competitions and has even bagged medals in many of them.

Here is Kavya Talreja in a conversation with GOGO Magazine.

1) When did you begin doing taekwondo?

I started practicing taekwondo at the age of 4 but began it professionally at the age of 14.

2) Why do you love the game?

It teaches us to stay confident and strong not only on the mat but in the outer world also. I kick for glory and it gives me self satisfaction.

3) Who is your inspiration?

My inspiration are my coaches and my dad. My dad was an international player of his time so he always inspires me.

4) What all major tournaments have you played?

I’m continuously playing at the national level since 2013, in which I have won 6 medals till now. I have also participated in 2 open internationals.

5) Which has been your best performance till now?

My best performance was on junior national 2015 where I won gold, those were the best days.

6) Has taekwondo changed your life?

Yes, taekwondo has changed my life a lot. It keeps me fit, mentally, and physically both, it gives me name and fame. And through taekwondo, my view towards life has changed. I just believe in hard work.

7) Where do you see yourself in next 10 years?

I don’t know actually, But still, I would love to share my knowledge about the game to needy.

8) How was life in quarantine?

Life in quarantine is quite changed, I was missing the mats and training was a little slow. Somehow I managed self-training at home and I hope everything becomes normal soon.
