Here is Aisha Noel in a conversation with GOGO Magazine.

1) When did your journey as a musician begin?

As a kid, I took piano lessons and sang in the school choir. I began to take music seriously in 2018 when I decided to pursue it professionally. It’s always been a dream of mine to share my music with the world so I’m happy to be living out that dream with each new release and every show.

2) Tell us more about giving a contemporary touch to the traditional Soca music.

Yes, being able to allow other musical influences to be heard through my music is important for me as an artist. I like to fuse other genres into soca music like pop or dancehall for example because it really spices things up. Soca on its own is already really fun to listen to and when you mix it with other popular genres it just creates a unique sound that pops.

3) Which has been your first track?

The first track I released is called, ‘Nobody be Safe’ produced by Ballistik boys.

4) Who has been your inspiration?

My dad has been a big inspiration to me in my journey towards a musical career. He exposed me to music at a young age because of his own interest and love of music. As a kid, we’d have sessions where he would put on his CDs and play his electric guitar and I would sing along to the songs he’d play. I loved the time I spent with my dad in this way and that’s where my love of music really began. I admired the effort he’d put into practice on his classical guitar and I looked forward to coming home after school every day to hear him playing his classical pieces. They were quite pretty.

5) Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

With my own businesses, making music magic and collaborating with major artists in a major way.

6) How would you describe your music?

Through music, I promote messages of love, freedom, and living in your truth. It’s a fusion of soca, pop, and Caribbean sounds. It’s very upbeat and energetic.

7) Which has been your most memorable project or song?

Shooting the music video for Soca Fever. It was my first experience shooting a video. It took long hours and a lot of preparation but I loved the process and the outfit!

8) Tell us about your latest track.

Sign Your Name appears on the Project Spotlight album by MusicTT. It was produced by Billboard Charting producer, Jhay C and written by Aisha Noel and international songwriter, Darryl Gervais. The artist describes, ‘Sign Your Name’ as a song that encapsulates bold and brave energy and the right to go for what you desire in love and life. It’s all about proclaiming love and not being afraid to do so. Sign Your Name is available on all streaming platforms.

9) Share some of your achievements with the magazine.

I’ve performed in multiple fetes/parties in my country. Co-written for soca artists like Machel Montano and Nailah Blackman. I’ve also grown a bit of a community as an artist on my social media pages where we connect. Recently I created a new playlist on Spotify called, ‘Divinity is Female’ that’s all about music to empower women and that feel-good vibe.

10) How was life in quarantine?

It was difficult at the beginning which I think it would’ve been for a lot of people since we’re all so used to being active and going out. Trinidad and Tobago are still under heavy quarantine mode but I’ve gotten used to it now. Regardless of the times, I still have been able to put the music out there which I’m pretty glad about. Things are tough but I’m tougher and I really can’t wait until we can all see the light again after this pandemic.
