Q. What does your artwork represent?
Interiors are my favorite subject. I paint scenes where the viewer can feel he can be part of it. They are invitations. I often paint chairs, sofas, stairs. All these elements are symbolic of an action, of a usefulness. These elements are very often placed in a certain way to invite people to sit down, to step in the scene.
Q. What inspires you?
I am inspired by everything around me. I am like a sponge. I am fascinated by light and it is generally the light that guides my choice of subjects.
When I walk into a room I always look how the light affect the environment.
I love the way the light affect, transform and embellish everything she touches.
This is the reason why I am painting a lot of different subjects.
I love to paint the banality and the intimacy of a scene embellished by light.
Q. What does your art mean to you?
Art is a need. I feel useful and in my place when creating. I wake up each morning knowing that I am living my life the way I always wanted to. By painting I no longer have regrets about life/career choices, I know longer have to think about my own situation. I do not miss my own life and do what makes me feel the most alive. I paint to share above all. Sharing is the most fundamental aspect in art in my opinion and this is why the main reason my paintings are invitations.
