Karen Boekholt (1977) is intrigued by the sea, which is subject to change at any time of the day. The waves, the light, the cloudy sky. Then calm, then rough again, always a fascinating event.
Being at sea gives you a certain freedom. The coast makes you healthier and happier. Several recent studies show this. Researchers concluded that those who live closer to the sea are more likely to be healthy, both mentally and physically. People visiting coastal areas appear to be calmer and more relaxed. So how great is it to have this topic in my paintings every day!
