‘Twin Mama Summer Edition 2019’

Yalikavak is part of the Bodrum peninsula in western Turkey. It is also known as the Aegean region. It lies on the northwest side of the peninsula around 20 km away from the Bodrum town on the southeast. Yalikavak has transformed from a nonentity to Turkey’s star performer.

Throughout history, locals relied on sponge diving and fishing for an income. But around in the 1980s mainstream package tourism appeared in Turkey. Yalikavak embraced it with open arms and enjoyed an alternative way of generating money. The Megayacht marina keeps the village lively every season. During the summers, the marina also hosts many music concerts.

The local community agenda comes alive on Thursdays when an all-encompassing market sells everything and anything under shaded canopies. The stalls at the far end sell an assortment of goods. There is a Turkish tradition to bargain on prices but only do this on non-food items like clothes, jewelry, and souvenirs.

Even though the marina transformed Yalikavak into an upscale destination, the old town part still lures tourists in with nostalgic traces. Browse through small shops, and boutiques. Then walk past men in the traditional Turkish tea shop to reach the harbourside.

The average winter temperature is around 9 degrees and summer temperature around 35 to 40 degrees. It makes it an ideal destination all year round. The official tourism season starts from May to October. The nearest airport is Milas-Bodrum (BJV) with a transfer time of one hour.

The airport has frequent flights during summer from many other places and countries. The currency used is Turkish Lira (TL) which is around 11.11 INR. Whenever you visit Turkey, Yalikavak is the place you should put on your list. The marina is recognized as the best marina for big yachts in the world. The location facing the Aegean islands of Greece is amazing. Sunrises and Sunsets are magnificent. Yalikavak is the ideal place for living in a wonderland.
