Shriya is a 15-year-old musician, dancer, and actress based in Mumbai, India. She started singing from the moment she could speak. Her musical journey started when she played a part of a cheerful, carefree young girl in the musical ‘Stranger’s in the Night’. From the moment Shriya stepped on stage, she knew she wanted to make a career out of her passion; music.
Since the age of 7, she has been madly inspired by artists such as Adele, and Amy Winehouse. Her favorite artists currently include Ariana Grande, Lauv, and Taylor Swift.
Here is Shriya in a conversation with GOGO Magazine.
1) When did your journey as a musician begin?
My musical journey began at the age of 7. The first song I ever sang is from the movie frozen! It’s called “let it go” and that’s why I’m so obsessed with Disney movies to date.

2) Tell us more about the experience of singing from a very young age.
I was put on stage at the age of 9, where I participated in a charity event. Since then, I have been performing on stage regularly.
3) Which has been your first track?
My first track was a cover when I was 10 years old!
4) Who has been your inspiration?
My musical inspiration stems from Ariana Grande and Charlie Puth’s songs! In my opinion, they are two of the best singers and musicians in the pop industry and have the best personalities. I’d consider them my role models.

5) Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In five years I see myself continuing my musical career and writing more originals, hopefully, I’ll have around 1-2 albums out by then. But my true dream is to be a live performer.
6)How would you describe your music?
The music that I create is relatable and simple yet unique. Music is the best for self-expression and that’s why when I experience anything negative or positive I try and write a song about it.

7) Which has been your most memorable song or project?
My most memorable song has definitely got to be “dreaming “ as it was the first song I ever wrote. It has a very special place in my heart, and always will.
8)What advice would you give to the aspiring musicians?
Create music for yourself and your happiness. If it makes others happy in the process, that’s lovely, but your happiness should always come first!

9)Share some of your achievements with the magazine.
I participated in multiple online concerts and fundraisers which gave me exposure and the chance to interact with so many other talented artists such as WE for Salaam Bombay and Take A Paws.
10)How was life in quarantine?
Life in quarantine actually gave me the chance to self-reflect and understand myself better. Slightly stressful but majorly eye-opening!
