2019: WORLD CAR OF THE YEAR, WORLD CAR DESIGN OF THE YEAR AND WORLD GREEN CAR OF THE YEAR
The car has made its debut at the Geneva International Motor Show 2018. It has already gone on sale in several global markets and India was not one of them. However, now the Jaguar has revealed the specifications, variants and equipment for the India-spec car on its website. The Jaguar I-Pace will be the first electric vehicle to be introduced by Tata Motors-owned luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover. As of now, the new Jaguar I-pace is expected to be launched in India by the end of 2020 at an expected price of 90 lakh to 1 crore. It will be available in three variants: S, SE, and HSE.
DESIGN:
EXTERIOR
The front profile of the car features a scooped bonnet and inward curved grille to channel air through the bonnet scoop. The car is equipped with optional Matrix LED headlights with signature DRL which maintains continuous use of high beam and automatically adjusts the path of light to avoid blinding the oncoming vehicle. Below the headlamps and just in front of the front wheels are air vents that provide aerodynamic balancing. Following the air, a vent is the fog lamps equipped on the lower bumper of the car.

The side profile features a charging input right slightly above the front tire and side rails with JAGUAR written. The stylish flat door handles which sit flush with the sides of the car ensure smooth airflow. Jaguar I-pace is available either in the standard body-colored roof or panoramic glass roof which has tinted and infrared absorbing glass to prevent strong UV light and heat from entering the cabin. The roof has a coupe-like finish and a shark fin antenna on the rear end.
The rear profile features a spoiler, sleek wraparound rear LED tail lights, JAGUAR signature logo, rear diffuser and air vents.

The dashboard is equipped with a 10-inch infotainment system that has all the controls of the car. Below the infotainment system is a floating center console that handles the climate controls. It also has physical knobs to adjust temperature and fan speed.

In front of the steering wheels sits a 12.3-inch instrument cluster that holds car functionality information. The rear seats are quite wide and have ample space for headroom as well as legroom. The cabin is full of charging sockets. It has three 12V sockets six USB sockets and one HDMI/HML port. The InControl Remote app gets an Alexa skill that will let drivers ask Alexa-enabled devices for information on the I-Pace’s charge level. It also comes with a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot and slots for tablets and laptops under the rear seats. The car comes with 16 speakers and 1 sub-woofer from British audio experts Meridian. The car also has an optional heads-up display that projects key vehicle data such as speed navigation on the windscreen in High-resolution color graphics.

PERFROMANCE:
The all-wheel-drive Jaguar I-Pace has electric motors mounted on each axle and the I-Pace uses a 90kWh battery pack from Jaguar’s own battery technology, made up of 432 lithium-ion cells and mounted in a frame that’s an integral structural component in the car’s floor. The range is expected to be good for around 483 km, while power output is rated at 395 bhp and 696 Nm of torque. With all that power, the I-Pace can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 4.5 seconds, Jaguar claims. The 90kWh lithium-ion battery pack takes 45 minutes to charge from 0-80 percent using a 100kW rapid charger, or 10 hours using a 7kW AC wall box.

The I-Pace doesn’t require a regular transmission. Instead, the JaguarDrive instantly delivers sustainable acceleration from 0 – 12,000 r/min with no lag and no gearshift interruptions. It comes with 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
