India became the first country in the to defeat Australia at the Gabba in this decade. India penetrated Australia’s fortification, Gabba after 32 years and have retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1, captain Ajinkya Rahane praised his group for setting up an interesting show. India was 0-1 down in the series when Rahane assumed responsibility as the commander and from that point forward, he scripted a turnaround and aided the side to bounce back. A beautiful show was put by Pant and Siraj as they turned out to be the star performers of the final innings.

Meanwhile, from England’s tour of Sri Lanka, England won the first test by 7 wickets. At the end of Day 3 of the second test between the two, England are at 339-9 and still trail by 42 runs where Joe Root scored more than half of the runs for the team.

Also in the subcontinent, Bangladesh is playing West Indies and is on the verge to clean sweep the visitors in the ODIs as they have won the two of three by 6 and 7 wickets respectively.

In India, the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy has nearly reached its climax as the quarter finals are to be played on the 26th and 27th of this month, and the final is scheduled for the 31st of Jan.
