Q. What does your artwork represent?
My paintings are usually about people, so I want my work to connect us as humans in some way.
I would like to think they help the viewer to feel something, be moved, be inspired, or feel uplifted in some way. If I can achieve that in even some small way then my painting is successful.
I am always striving for excellence in my work and I spend a lot of time on each piece.
As a figurative artist, I spend many hours observing my subject, looking at nuances of expression and plays of light upon the face. I notice gestures and shapes, warm and cool skin tone, all sorts of things that help us capture something of the essence of our subject …at least that is the aim. The eyes are most important as they really are the windows to the soul.

Q. What does your art mean to you?
Painting is my life, I paint almost every day and if I am not painting I am usually thinking about painting. It is a way of life and I have dedicated my life to it.
